The first exhibition where kids are heroes
Exclusive in Paris, an “interactive painting” is available from April 3rd to December 31st 2008 for children from 4 years old.
The concept of this exposition relies on the celebrated painting “Jeux d’Enfants” from the famous XVIth-century Flemish painter Brueghel. Children will discover it from the inside through a full 3D reproduction of the painting featuring 200 characters and close to 80 interactive games.
The adventure will entertain kids who will meet the Giant of Anvers, Belgium and return home with a Diamond from the city.
A new interactive and playful approach to Art… for children!

Jean Nouvel Wins 2008 Pritzker Prize
Jean Nouvel has talked of creating buildings that he hopes will disappear into their surroundings, defy easy characterization, and that will become dated. And yet with today’s announcement by The Hyatt Foundation that this 62-year-old Frenchman is the 2008 laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the profession’s highest honor, Nouvel’s oeuvre is certain to invite close study by many generations to come. In fact, contrary to the architect’s own desire, his buildings already stand out.

Alexandre Charpentier (1856-1909). Naturalism and Art Nouveau
Until April 13th, 2008.
Although less well known than Gallé, Guimard or Gaudí, Alexandre Charpentier nonetheless played an important rôle in the emergence of Art Nouveau. His career was brief; there were just over twenty years between his first success at the Salon in 1883 and his last work in 1905.
He was also an excellent portrait painter, and portrayed over five hundred prominent people of the time, mostly in medals, an art form he helped to revive.

Charles Sandison / Claude Monet
February 22 - May 18
Born in Scotland in 1969, the artist Charles Sandison lives, works and teaches in Tampere in Finland. Passionate about the multiple theories in physics and biology, as well as in linguistics and medicine, Sandison is interested in the systems that these put in place, and in the power they exert. Moving away from pure concept, he uses computer programs and algorithms to create a new language, a reflection on areas of knowledge, which he projects into darkened spaces. Spectators are invited to immerse themselves in this remodelled architecture, to wander between words and signs, experiencing the sense and the sensuality of a poetic design. Sandison has chosen Claude Monet's Blue Water Lilies attracted by the aquatic immersion of the picture.

Vlaminck, a Fauvist Instinct
February 20 - July 20
This exhibition brings together works of the period 1900-1915, from Maurice de Vlaminck’s (1876-1958) earliest known paintings - Vlaminck’s career started when he was 17, but none of his juvenalia has been preserved - in which he already asserted his characteristic violence, down to the works produced at the beginning of the First World War, which reflect his contemporary research on the rendering of space. An overview of Vlaminck’s production at that time reveals the key part he played in the renewal of painting which started in the early 20th century, the inventiveness of the research he undertook with Derain and which made Chatou one of the most active centres of that renewal.
